Title: Doctor Who
Type: TV series/British
Genre: Drama, adventure, family
Summary: Rose Tyler is just an ordinary shop worker living an ordinary life in 21st century Britain. But that life is turned upside down when a strange man calling himself The Doctor drags her into an alien invasion attempt!
Reader's Take: First off, I loved Rose in the beginning of the episode, how she was in a dead end job secretly looking for a little adventure it sets up the end of the episode and the next episodes perfectly. We all want Rose to go on this great adventure with The Doctor by the end. Her mom was hilarious. And I love a female main character who asks questions when it comes to strange men showing up and saving her life yet increasing her probability for facing death again in the near future. I didn't really get the manican things or the big blob at the end of the episode...? But I laughed so hard when her whiny boyfriend got his body taken over and then his face was melting and Rose was like, oh my God you melted my boyfriend's face, I'm kinda mad at you but maybe I'll get over it if you tell me more about this time travel thing you do...I think the boyfriend was about as dead end as her job.
Inside A Writer's Brain: Okay, so there's not much actual time travel that the viewer sees in episode one until the very end of the episode and now that I've watched 3 episodes, I can't remember if we find out that The Doctor is an alien in episode one? the alien thing helps to justify the superpower. That's all I'm picking up so far on the writer's end since it's more of a beginning so far and not a complete story.
Are you a Doctor Who fan? If so, is it gonna get more awesome as the seasons go by or less?
